A drive from the pier to Saigon takes you to the History Museum. Built in 1929, this museum houses an excellent collection of artifacts illustrating the evolution of the cultures of Vietnam, from bronze aged Dong Son civilization to Cham, Khmer and modern-day Vietnam.

Photo stops are included at the Notre Dame Cathedral, a neo-classical structure dating back to the 19th century.  The imposing twin spires have long heralded arrival in Saigon to passenger liners that travel the winding Saigon, then a short walk into the Central Post Office nearby; and take a photo stop at the former Presidential Palace that is now known as the Reunification Hall.  This historic building was made famous when a Vietnamese. The  Liberation Front’s tank crashed through its front gates on April 30th, 1975, signaling the end of the Vietnam War.

Lunch at the local restaurant in Saigon by your own expense, our guide will recommend the most suitable restaurants on your interests.

Afterward, the tour continues into the heart of Cho Lon, literally "big market" and more commonly known as Chinatown. With its crowded streets and chophouses, the names are certainly appropriate! The streets are full of life and color, with bargaining being conducted at numerous street stalls, and hundreds of hidden temples, shrines and pagodas.

Visit the Thien Hau Temple, dedicated to the Goddess Protector of Sailors, which dates to the late 18th century.  The smell of incense hangs heavy in the air, with huge burning spirals suspended from the ceiling. Ceramic figurines and a scale model boat commemorate the arrival of the first Chinese from Canton, and interesting ceramic frieze line the roof of the inner courtyard.

From the Chinese district return to the 3rd district. Stop at a lacquer factory for an opportunity to see the lacquering process and shopping. Return to the ship.
